Fans Of ‘The Bachelorette’ Are Furious That Becca Chose A Guy Who’s Racist, Sexist, and Homophobic

This week, The Bachelorette wrapped up this season with a proposal. After fans of the series watched poor Becca Kufrin get dumped by Arie last season, they were rooting for her to get a good guy finally.

And, the season wrapped up with Garrett Yrigoyen receiving the final rose–and proposing to Becca.

We did the damn thing! ❤️💍🍾🎉

As it turns out, Garrett isn’t all that nice afterall. After he was the one guy who got a kiss on the very first episode of the season, fans were totally drawn to him. So much so, that they ignored the fact that he is a complete and total jerk.

Former Bachelor contestant Ashley Spivey did some digging for us. It turns out that Garrett has a history of liking sexist, racist, homophobic, and misogynistic memes and images on social media. And, it’s not just one, it’s a lot. Spivey posted all of the memes on Instagram that he had liked–with his handle in the like section.

This week, Garrett was forced to face the truth after backlash on social media. After the proposal, the couple sat down with the show’s host, Chris Harrison, and was asked about the situation. Garrett said he apologized publicly on Instagram in June and stood by his apology.

Becca also stood by her new fiancé, saying:

“I, luckily, got to know him for who he is… So I got to see who he is, his heart, his soul. And the Instagram situation, I don’t condone that and I know that he stands by his apology and he feels so bad for everyone that he did offend. I just want to move forward and to learn and to grown and to continue to educate ourselves. That’s all that you can ask for in another person.”

However, fans were not happy to see that Becca ended up with someone even worse than Arie.

I, for one, have never been a fan of this franchize and will not start now–however, I do think that if someone is exhibiting these behaviors when you’re casting a show, you shouldn’t put them on the damn show. Do better.
