3 Small Changes To Brighten Up a Dreary Winter Barn

With winter’s cooler weather comes shorter days. For many people, that means a little less pep in their step. If you can relate to the winter blues, then you also know how small changes can help add a bright spot to an otherwise dark, dreary, winter day. Here are three small things you can do around your barn to make it a more welcoming and inviting space.

  1. Get a Jump on Spring Cleaning

Dust and grime build-up can really make a space seem dreary. That’s why the winter is a great time to get a jump on spring cleaning around your barn. Grab a stiff broom to knock down cobwebs and sweep up old hay that is cluttering up the aisles. If you are feeling particularly ambitious, you might apply a horse-safe wood treatment to worn surfaces.

  1. Install LED Lights

LED lights are a great choice for barns and stables. They produce less heat than incandescent bulbs, so they are much less likely to start a fire in dry conditions. Plus, they last for years, so you won’t have to drag out the ladder to replace them any time soon. While the idea of LED lighting may not seem like a great mood booster, newer bulbs come in a variety of color options that can really brighten up your space.

  1. Add a Pop of Color

Sometimes, a pop of color in an unexpected place is enough to put a smile on your face. The winter is a great time to check out some new horse jump colors. Switching them up in the off season will also give your horse plenty of time to adjust to the change.

There is no need to suffer through a long winter in a dark, dreary barn. Brighten up yours by cleaning up some of the winter dust, upgrading the lights, and adding a bit of color.
